Huawei Introduces Packet Microwave System RTN 900 series

Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today unveiled the Packet Microwave System RTN 900 series. The RTN 900 series is optimized for Ethernet and IP, and will provide a throughput of up to 1 Gb/s per carrier frequency.

The new RTN 900 series for North American includes the RTN 910 and RTN 950 products, which integrates advanced packet compression technology to increase throughput per carrier frequency from 400 Mbps to 1 Gbps. This is achieved by optimizing the overhead associated MAC, VLAN, MPLS and IP protocols. In addition, this series supports Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) tunneling technology which simplifies provisioning and allows seamless interoperability with Metro Ethernet networks.

“Mobile backhaul capacity and connectivity has become a top priority for many North American operators,” said Reg Wilcox, Vice President of Network Marketing and Product Management for Huawei USA. “The new RTN 900 series of microwave radios are optimized for all-IP services and address the reach/bandwidth requirements resulting from the explosive growth of mobile broadband traffic.”

Huawei’s expertise in the fields of microwave, IP, and transmission provides a strong foundation for developing cutting-edge microwave solutions. A worldwide leader in the transmission field, Huawei provides intelligent transmission solutions to global operators integrating WDM/OTN and microwave systems. According to the most recent statistics from SkyLight Financial Group, Huawei ranks in the top 3 global microwave market.
