OptiX RTN 600 Series

The OptiX RTN 600 series TDM/hybrid integrated radio transmission system (the OptiX RTN 600) is a digital microwave transmission system for data packets developed by Huawei. In addition to all the traditional microwave features of the OptiX RTN 600 series, the system provides series transmission from the access layer to the backbone layer and can work with Huawei optical network equipment for end-to-end service grooming by unified network management. Support smooth evolution from TDM microwave transmission to Hybrid Microwave transmission, which meets the requirement of mobile backhaul evolution from 2G to 3G.

In the microwave field, Huawei acquires cutting-edge technologies in wireless radio frequency (RF), IP-based data communications and MSTP (Multi-service Transmission Protocol) transmission. There are four microwave research centers in Milan, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Xi’an. In 2007, Huawei pioneered the innovative "networking microwave" concept. By th e end of 2008, Huawei has commercialized its microwave equipment for more than 80 operators in over 60 countries around the world, including Telefonica, Etisalat, Oi/Telemar, T-Moblie, TM, STC, China Mobile, and China Unicom.

The OptiX RTN 600 supports the configuration of three air interface modes through software, that is, pure TDM mode, TDM + Ethernet mode, and pure Ethernet mode. The OptiX RTN 600 is available in two models, the OptiX RTN 620 and the OptiX RTN 605. The OptiX RTN 620 is a pluggable multi-directional microwave system of 2 U high. It is a SPR microwave transmission device and can be upgraded from TDM to hybrid microwave transmission by software control. The OptiX RTN 605 is an integrated PDH/Hybrid microwave radio of 1U high, which is a cost-effective solution for tail access. It’s a kind of PDH/hybrid microwave transmission device and cost-effective end access solution. Each of the OptiX RTN 605 and the OptiX RTN 620 includes an indoor unit (IDU) and an outdoor unit (ODU). For example, a suit of OptiX RTN 620 system consists of the IDU 620, the ODU and the antenna.

The OptiX RTN 620 is a software upgradeable TDM/hybrid integrated microwave device that provides the following features:

    * Convergence, cross connection and scheduling of TDM and Ethernet services.
    * Non-blocking connection in any direction within a subrack.
    * Native E1 and Ethernet transmission.
    * Adaptive modulation (AM) to balance high-priority services and highcapacity data services,   to optimize the overall performance of the network, and to enhance frequency bandwidth.
    * Optical interfaces at higher speeds to connect optical devices for centralized network management.
    * Supporting end-to-end services with multiple transmissions over wired and wireless medium.

The OptiX RTN 605 is a microwave end access device that provides the following features:

    * Native E1 and Eth.
    * Adaptive modulation.
    * Highly integrated compact design.
    * Easy installation and debugging.
    * Routine maintenance free.
    * Easy troubleshooting.
    * Air interface interconnection between the OptiX RTN 605 and the OptiX RTN 620.

The OptiX RTN 600 is available with full range of ODUs and antennas that cover the entire frequency band from 6 GHz to 38 GHz applicable in different countries and regions around the world (as shown in Figure 2). The ODUs and IDUs can be flexibly combined. They are easy to install and maintain, and support cold start at a temperature as low as -45°C. Huawei PDH microwave equipment has a higher output power with its transmission distance 40% longer than the peer products in the same conditions. The SDH microwave equipment supports various capacities from low density to high density, helping operators save their investments. Owing to advanced modulation and demodulation technologies, the receiver sensitivity of ODU is 2.5dB higher than the industry average. Thus operators can use antennas with smaller diameters to reduce the loads of the towers, with link quality guaranteed.
